Our Team

Laura J. Knapp, O.D., F.C.O.V.D.

Dr. Laura J. Knapp has been in the field of optometry for over 15 years having started her career as a vision therapist. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Rowan University, Dr. Knapp continued her education at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, earning a Doctorate of Optometry with Clinical Honors.

Following graduation, Dr. Knapp relocated to Norfolk, Virginia, where she led the pediatric team for a private practice and introduced vision therapy to its patients and employees. While completing her clinical training, Dr. Knapp worked closely with Dr. Leonard J. Press who eventually sold her his practice and transitioned all patient care.

Dr. Knapp’s passion is to assist in both pediatric and adult optometric care, helping to correct those with eye coordination difficulties. Her extensive training allows her to specialize in the treatment of these patients while simultaneously pursuing a particular interest in learning-related vision disorders.

Dr. Knapp is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, the American Optometric Association, and the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians.

She and her husband reside in Wyckoff, New Jersey with their two daughters and three dogs.

Optometric Vision Therapists

Our vision therapy staff and office staff team are integral to both our patients’, and our, success. They are individually chosen with an eye toward empathy for patients and an upbeat personality.

Our vision therapists are guided toward board certification, a process attained through the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). We hold daily team meetings with the entire staff to keep one another up to date about every patient’s individual care.

Weekly, the therapy staff and doctors get together in a roundtable session for team education and to review the progress of our patients. Concurrently, the office staff meets to focus on education while also working for our patients to help the obtain the best possible insurance reimbursements.
