Dr. Jessica Ships

Pediatric and Vision Rehabilitation Resident

Dr. Jessica Ships is the current Pediatric and Vision Rehabilitation resident at Family Eyecare
Associates. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Medical and Molecular Biology at
Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and continued her dreams at New
England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. Dr. Ships received her Doctorate in Optometry in
May 2022 with clinical honors.

From the start of optometry school, Dr. Ships had a growing passion for pediatric care, vision
therapy, and neuro-rehabilitation. She completed a specialty clinical elective course to gain
more experience with this population on top of her assigned rotations.

She ultimately found her true happiness caring for these patients and knew she wanted to complete a residency in the specialty. Dr. Ships also worked closely with her school’s faculty, completing multiple research projects, some focusing on vision rehabilitation.
During her clinical externships, Dr. Ships chose to complete a rotation with Dr. Knapp at her practice and knew this was the right fit to continue her advanced clinical training.
In her spare time, she continues to explore the beauties of New Jersey, new restaurants, exercising, being creative, and spending time with her family in Long Island, NY, and Boston, MA.

Optometric Vision Therapists

Our vision therapy staff and office staff team are integral to both our patients’, and our, success. They are individually chosen with an eye toward empathy for patients and an upbeat personality.
Our vision therapists are guided toward board certification, a process attained through the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). We hold daily team meetings with the entire staff to keep one another up to date about every patient’s individual care.
Weekly, the therapy staff and doctors get together in a roundtable session for team education and to review the progress of our patients. Concurrently, the office staff meets to focus on education while also working for our patients to help the obtain the best possible insurance reimbursements.

No Insurance? / Don't See Your Insurance?

No Problem!

At PressVision, we know how confusing insurance can be for our patients. Our patients appreciate that we go the extra mile when it comes to helping our patients and their families deal with their insurance provider.

Making Insurance Make Sense

We will explain how your deductible works. We’ll also explain what services are fully or partially covered. We’ll also tell you what services are unlikely to be covered. Based on our experience, we’ll even give you our estimate of what you can expect back from your insurance company.

Insurance Submission

We also take care of submitting all required paperwork to your insurance company. We do this every day, and we know the ins and outs of getting insurance claims submitted properly to your insurer.

What to Expect

Insurance providers are always changing coverages for services. While we can’t guarantee that your insurance company will approve or cover all provided services, you can be sure that we will fully explain everything to you and properly submit all required paperwork to your insurer.

Our Modern Fair Lawn Office

Our office is warm and welcoming to both adults and children.  We have the latest technology to assist with proper diagnosis and with vision therapy.
